In April 2010, Chatterbox reached two milestones: We moved into our own studio space, and we submitted our application for nonprofit status to the IRS.
Chatterbox's new studio is located in the Marshall Arts building in Memphis, TN. That means we're surrounded by incredibly talented visual artists. We're also right down the street from the legendary Sun Studios and directly across from the amazing Hattiloo Theatre. We couldn't ask for a more creative, energizing setting.
We're currently working on renovating the space in order to transform it into a fully functioning recording studio. Led by Eric Sefton, renovations include rewiring, installing ceiling lights, repainting, creating a control room, mounting acoustic treatment, and more. Once we're done, the studio will be able to accommodate most Chatterbox productions, all the way from the first table read to the final recording. How can you help? Well, the submission of our application for nonprofit status means that Chatterbox can now accept donations, which are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. In addition to renovation costs, we'll have an ongoing (though very reasonable) rent bill to pay. In short, then, there has never been a more important time to become a Chatterbox supporter.
