Jane has been performing on the various Memphis and West Memphis stages since 1974. She received a Memphis Theatre Supporting Actress Award (Ostrander) for her role in Playhouse on the Square's To Kill a Mockingbird. At P.O.T.S., Theatre Memphis, Germantown Community Theatre, Lausanne, and M.U.S., some of her favorite show credits include leading roles in: Inherit the Wind, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Madwoman of Chaillot, The Innocents, Agnes of God, and The Man Who Came to Dinner.
She has also directed numerous plays and musicals at Lausanne Collegiate School, in which current film actress Ginnifer Goodwin starred. “She will always be my darling ‘Jenny’,” reminisces Jane.
Harris began her directing and acting career in West Memphis, AR as the only speech and drama teacher at West Memphis Senior High School for many years.
She received her Masters degree in Theatre from the University of Tennessee Martin under the superior tutelage of the late director/playwright Bill Snyder. She then completed a year of post-graduate study in acting and directing at the prestigious University of Virginia Theatre via their MFA program in Charlottesville.
